A message from our President and General Secretary
Dear Members of ECLSO, dear colleagues, dear friends,

IMPORTANT MESSAGE – JOIN THE ECLSO AT THE 51st Major Congress in VIENNA, on April 24th – 25th 2026, at the ANANTARA Palais HANSEN, Schottenring 24, 1010 Vienna, Austria.
SAVE THE DATE!
Topics: myopia management, TFOS Dry eye report III, correction of regular and irregular astigmatism: contact lenses versus surgery, keratoconus management, artificial intelligence and contact lens fitting, ocular surface controversies presented by the Austrian national contact lens society.
Welcome to all ECLSO members, national groups, and eye care professionals. This congress provides a chance for ophthalmologists and other eye care experts to share and gain knowledge on ocular surface pathology and medical use of contact lenses.
During our Major Congress in Vienna 2026, the ECLSO Praesidium will specifically focus on key point presentations of interest for young ophthalmologists. ECLSO will organize sessions tailored to and presented by our younger colleagues.
If you are not an ECLSO member yet, please open the gate to our high level conference by applying for membership through your national society or individual membership by contacting our ECLSO manager, Ms Louise Richards.
In 2025, the ECLSO has accomplished its mission by participating frequently in joint meetings with major international Ophthalmological Societies. In this way we have been reaching out to our target audiences of ophthalmologists, optometrists and eye care professionals.
Not every ophthalmologist has to become a contact lens expert, but every colleague must be aware of what is going on in the field.
IN CONCLUSION: JOIN THE ECLSO AND WELCOME TO OUR MAJOR CONGRESS IN VIENNA on April 24th and 25th 2026.

Carina Koppen, MD
ECLSO President
Ömür Uçakhan-Gunduz, MD
Secretary-General of ECLSO

ECLSO aims to promote continuous education and information of eyecare specialists interested in contact lenses and ocular surface. Our target audiences are therefore ophthalmologists and optometrists with an interest in these topics, including young ophthalmologists and residents in training, as well as allied health care personnel.
Contactology is an integral part of ophthalmological practice. Recent developments in the field of myopia management – a topic all ophthalmologists are confronted with – highlight the fact that medical contact lens approaches are an integral part of ophthalmology.
Not every ophthalmologist has to become a contact lens expert but every colleague must be aware of what is going on in the field.
That is where ECLSO wants to make a difference by organising meetings like the Prague Symposium, the bi-annual Major Conference, and joint meetings with the National Ophthalmological Societies.
ECLSO sincerely welcomes you to join your National Group or to become an individual ECLSO member. For more information visit the Membership page >>.
